The flickering with Return to Mysterious Island and Warcraft 3 comes to mind in my own experience. Slow downs are conditional too. Like in Need for Speed: Most Wanted - if the car's reflective update rate is too high (past the second lowest level), the game will keep getting slower the longer you play until it finally crashes. My guess is that it fills us the texture memory way too quickly and doesn't empty it like it should. Apparently some of these issues were fixed in the RGH driver (the same driver IntelliModder32 shamelessly copies for it's X3000 series of drivers - among others), but it's generally for the GMA 965 on 64 bit Vista systems, so the results my vary for the GMA 945 on Windows 7. I'm having a look at it and trying to work out what might port those improvements to Chell.

I already know of one or two settings I want to rip out of the current Chell version atleast - they're causing some boot delays for one. It may be an issue with my motherboard. I edited the entire post after I finished benchmarking the drivers. I can explain the Passmark results: it wasn't using the software vertex shaders like it did for the games. Try adding Passmark's exe file in software mode to the internal game list using one of the reg modders and you'll see an improvement. I have quite a few Benchmarking programs added to the game list - even including Windows' own one to give people a more accurate idea of the kind of performance speeds to expect. For the Source games, maybe read and see if those settings improve performance more. I also found a option called mat_softwarelighting that works wonders - with newer Source games anyway.
